  • Modeling Ties are more durable, easy to bend, but still hold their modeled shape
  • Integrated blue and red ends on the Modeling Tie indicate directionality
  • Consistent gray color represents the carbon backbone of proteins and helps students focus on the properties of the amino acids
  • Clips grip the Modeling Tie, preventing amino acids from falling off 

With one Modeling Tie, students can:

  • Fold and twist the 1-meter-long modeling tie into alpha helices or beta sheets
  • Indicate the 3’ and 5’ ends of a DNA model or N and C terminus of a polypeptide with blue and red ends
  • Use two modeling ties together to demonstrate the plectonemic nature of DNA
